Why Choose an Orthodontist?
Why Choose an Orthodontist to Straighten Your Teeth?
All orthodontists are dentists, but not all dentists are orthodontists! Read below and watch this informative video to learn more.
To become a dentist, Dr. Don attended college for four years, then dental school for three more years to obtain his DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery). Then he had two years of post-doctoral, advanced specialty training to obtain his MSD (Master of Science in Dentistry) in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. In this advanced training, Dr. Don learned:
- To treat crooked teeth by using braces and appliances of different types
- About the growth of jaws and teeth
- How to prevent or intercept abnormalities of the bite
But training for Dr. Don doesn’t stop there. The field of orthodontics is advancing and changing rapidly due to the use of computers and digital technology and the introduction of space-age materials, such as heat-activated memory wires. Dr. Don and his team stay certified and educated on new technologies and techniques through continuing education classes. That’s why Dr. Don is an expert at moving teeth, helping jaws develop and function properly, and working with his patients to make sure their teeth stay in their new positions.
Why Choose Dr. Don?
All orthodontists attend two to three years of advanced specialty training to obtain their degrees in orthodontics. They are taught how to straighten crooked teeth, align crooked jaws, and improve a smile. But orthodontics is about more than just using braces to straighten your or your child’s teeth. Orthodontics is a science, but there’s an artistic aspect, too. Dr. Don is a specialist in the scientific aspect of orthodontics, and also has the special intuitive sense that makes him a smile artist. Please take a moment to check out Dr. Don’s Smile Gallery to see some of his beautiful smiles. Call or e-mail us to schedule an appointment for a complimentary examination.
